I was a child living around this lake from 1955 to 1970. Who was this park named after? It should have been named after Mr. Shelly Brogdon. He was 73 and was the oldest living resident when I was born in 1955 in the neighborhood. He used to dawn his father’s Civil War Confederate uniform on Memorial Day and march in the parade on Confederate Avenue in Atlanta. This was a magical place when I was a child. I am glad to see it preserved for others to enjoy. Thanks for taking such great care of my childhood neighborhood!
